Hugh Flouch appeared alongside former London mayor Ken Livingstone on the BBC’s Daily Politics show, 19 January, as part of a programme about the political implications of social media. Hugh spoke about the Networked Neighbourhoods current research project with London Councils, as well as the neighbourhood site he established a couple of years ago, Harringay Online.
You can view the programme here. The discussion follows a short introductory film after about 3 minutes.

Loved the bit by the host about online crowd-sourcing bringing back public hangings. It is amazing to me how cynical the media – we control the airwaves – came across in both the story and article.
I do agree that at the local level, the getting stuff done part is a strength that needs to be repeated. In my neighborhood in Minneapolis, today people are organizing to help a wheelchair bound resident navigate the deep ice ruts in the alley by gathering their sledge hammers. OK not, government policy, but real. See: http://forums.e-democracy.org/r/topic/7xlvVB23twBVnjvzckhnI
